UKSEDS National Student Space Conference

UKSEDS is hosting the next National Student Space Conference (NSSC 2024 - UKSEDS) in Bristol on 2nd-3rd March 2024! To add to the continuing excitement, the tickets for the conference are on sale and you can get them here! Hurry up and make sure you get them fast as we expect this to be a sell-out event!

The National Student Space Conference is an event for students unlike any other, where students can meet and network with potential future employers, prominent academics and not to mention fellow students. All this while attending talks and panels with many great speakers to be announced over the coming weeks. Also for this year, we have created a forum for active discussions, to coordinate travel and Q&A with regards to the conference so that you may have the best experience possible. Space/Astronomy research projects

Former president of OUSAS, Dr Hannah Rana, is looking for students to work on astronomy research projects at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Harvard University. These can be completed part-time and remotely under supervision. The topics of research include space-based VLBI black hole imaging, instrumentation design, and space cryogenics. If interested, please send your CV and a few lines on your research interests to hannah.rana@cfa.harvard.edu by Friday 22nd December 2023.

ESA Academy's CubeSat Concurrent Engineering Workshop 2024

This workshop will expose students to real-life concurrent engineering approach practices. Guided by ESA systems engineers, the students will delve into the world of concurrent engineering, getting acquainted with the Concurrent Model-based Engineering Tool (COMET) and identifying design drivers. Students split into groups will be asked to apply the knowledge acquired along the course on concurrent engineering and payload, propulsion, power, thermal, attitude, and orbital control systems (AOCS), amongst other disciplines, to create a CubeSat mission design.

Dates: 20 – 23 Feb 2024
Open to: Engineering or science degree at Bachelor (at least 3rd year), Master, or PhD level for the academic year 2023-2024

2024 GMAP Planetary Geologic Mapping Winter School

Dates: 22-26 Jan, 2024

The Europlanet GMAP Winter School is focused on the production of planetary geological maps of a range of Solar System bodies: building upon earlier editions focused on Mars, the Moon, and Mercury, the 2024 edition will cover exemplary geological mapping aspects on Venus, Icy Satellites and Small Bodies.
